The Ambassadors Membership Committee meets at 8:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month.

As one of the newest committees affiliated with the Chamber, members of the Young Business Leaders come together to engage in community life and expand professional and social opportunities. This group is geared toward professionals between the ages of 21 and 39 however the young at heart are always welcome. All committee chairs and officers must be between the ages of 21-39. We welcome new members to serve as ambassadors for the greater Meriden area. YBL meetings are held twice per month, including a morning business meeting held at the Meriden Chamber and an evening social meeting held at various restaurants throughout the local area. Presented by Disturbed Image and the Meriden Rotary Club: The Second Annual Silver City Slam Fest is being held September 18, 2010 in Hubbard Park, 995 West Main Street, Meriden, Connecticut 06451. The Meriden Rotary will have their Amber Alert program for children from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. There will be live bands, welding demos, give-aways, games, raffles and more. It promises to be a fun day for any age group. Come and check out the classic cars, trucks, and bikes, have some fun playing tug-of-war or other games. Watch the high - low contests. Awards in several classes will be presented to show participants at 4:00 PM. Vendor space is still available. The proceeds will be donated to the Meriden Boys & Girls Club. Vehicle registration is $15. Spectators are FREE!

Meriden Rotary 2nd Annual Pet Fair, Dog Walk and 5k Run

ALL are welcome to the 2nd Annual Pet Fair, Dog Walk and 5k Run. 5k Road Race starts at 9:30am; The Pet Fair runs from 10-3pm; The Dog Walk will start at 11:30am. It will be held in front of the bandshell in Hubbard Park. The event will benefit the Meriden Humane Society and charities of the Meriden Rotary Foundation. The cost for the race will be $20, $25 day of race - T-Shirts will be given to those that pre-register. The Dog Walk will be $15, $20 for more than one dog. Bandanas will be given to all dogs that register.

Meriden-Wallingford NAACP Annual Community Awards Freedom Fund Dinner

Every year, the NAACP honors individuals who have shown great support and dedication in the Meriden-Wallingford communities in areas such as: Community Service, Education, Health, Pioneer, Religious, and Youth Leadership. We are asking for your help in choosing our 2010 award recipients. Please submit your nomination form to us no later than Friday, July 23, 2010. All nominations forms will be reviewed by the members of the Freedom Fund Committee. The selected award recipients will be announced on August 2, 2010. Award recipients will receive one complimentary ticket to the dinner, one-year membership to the organization, and a plaque of recognition.

Also, The Meriden-Wallingford Branch of the NAACP is proud to support our students. Scholarships are given to students wishing to further their education. To-date, we have awarded 7 students with a scholarship and we wish to continue to do so. Please consider supporting the scholarship! (All donations are considered restricted funds and are used for the scholarship only.)
